7 Coaching Website Must-Haves (With Examples That Convert)
Most coaching websites look nice and convert nobody. Here are the 7 elements every coaching site needs to turn visitors into booked calls — and what each looks like done right.
A pretty website is not the same as a website that gets clients. Plenty of coaches spend weeks on design, launch, and then hear nothing but crickets.
The difference comes down to a handful of elements that do the actual converting. Here are the 7 must-haves — and what each looks like when it's done right.
1. A Headline That Names Who You Help and How
The moment someone lands, they should know in 5 seconds whether they're in the right place. Your headline isn't your name or "Welcome" — it's a clear statement of the outcome you deliver.
Done right: "I help newly promoted managers lead their first team — without burning out." Done wrong: "Empowering you to live your best life."
Specific beats inspirational. Every time.
2. One Clear Next Step (Not Twelve)
The fastest way to lose a visitor is to give them too many choices. Your site should have one primary action — usually "Book a Call" — repeated clearly throughout.
A confused visitor does nothing. Decide the single thing you want them to do, and make that button impossible to miss.
3. Proof, Early and Often
Strangers don't trust claims — they trust evidence. Sprinkle proof throughout:
- Client results and testimonials (specific ones, with names and faces).
- Before-and-after numbers.
- Logos, features, or credentials that matter to your buyer.
Don't bury testimonials at the bottom. Put proof near every place you ask someone to act.
4. A "For You / Not For You" Section
Counterintuitively, saying who you don't serve makes the right people trust you more. A short "this is for you if… / this isn't for you if…" section makes your ideal client feel deeply understood — and filters out the wrong ones before they waste your time.
5. A Human, Trust-Building About Section
People hire people. A real photo, your story told through the lens of your reader's problem, and a glimpse of your personality build the trust that a bullet list of qualifications never will. (Your About page is often your second-most-visited page — make it earn its traffic.)
6. Clear Explanation of How It Works
Uncertainty kills conversions. Show the simple path: "Here's what working together looks like — step 1, step 2, step 3." When people can picture the process, the fear of the unknown drops and booking feels safe.
7. Mobile-First and Fast
More than half your visitors are on a phone. If your site is slow, cramped, or hard to tap on mobile, you're losing clients before they read a word. Test it on your own phone — if you find it annoying, so do they.
The Page That Matters Most
Here's a secret: you don't even need a big multi-page website to start. One focused landing page with these elements — a sharp headline, one clear action, proof, who it's for, a human touch, the process, and fast mobile loading — will out-convert a sprawling 10-page site every time.
Start with one page that does these seven things well. That single asset will do more for your client flow than months of design polish — because it's built to convert, not just to look good.
